Weekend Workouts – March 2nd and 3rd

Two months into the year and the group has had some great success stretching the distance.

This weekend we take a step back in mileage, but increase some intensity while having some fun up on Mt. Tamalpais!

Saturday Ride

Mill Valley – Bolinas Lagoon – Mt. Tam TT
47 Miles

A staple in M2 routes, we’ll get a good warm-up cruising Highway 1 to Bolinas, return back through Stinson for a short regroup, then form up for an informal Time Trial up the mountain along Panoramic, to Pantoll, then West Peak.  Perfect test for fitness that is easily repeatable throughout the year.  Pacing is paramount as it is a long, grinding climb where you want to finish the last portion of the climb with an “Edge”.

No Sunday activities as Escape From Alcatraz is going on.  Go out and get a good 8-12 mile run and cheer on our Bay Area athletes taking on the challenge!  Should be a great day out there with sunshine and a slew of top rate pro’s from short and long course disciplines racing too.

Using this memorable picture is just unfair! Tam TT – you guys enjoy while I will freeze my knuckles off!

Hopefully a similar day tomorrow for our ride. That was my first experience of seeing the Kaiser rise above the rest of us on Mt Tam.
